Grinding

Grinding capabilities across the platform. The right process when a surface needs a finish, a flatness, or a fit that cutting tools alone cannot deliver.

GRINDING

Precision Surfaces. Finished to Print.

Grinding removes material with an abrasive wheel instead of a cutting tool, taking a part to a finish and size that milling and turning cannot reach. Outside and inside diameters are ground round and to size. Flat surfaces are ground flat and parallel. Jig grinding finishes precisely located holes and complex contours in hardened material. Lapping takes a surface even further, bringing flatness down into the low millionths of an inch. For hardened steel, wear surfaces, and mating components, grinding is often the step that makes the part work.

Grinding comes after a part is machined and heat treated, which makes it the stage where final size and geometry get locked in. The process holds tight dimensions on hard materials, produces consistent surface finishes, and pairs with in-house inspection to verify the result. Facilities across the platform cover OD, ID, surface, and jig grinding, and lapping for a level of flatness that not every shop offers.

GRINDING

Where Grinding Delivers Beyond Machining

  • Production tooling, dies, and punches made from hardened steel, where the finish and fit have to hold after heat treat
  • Aerospace and defense components with tight bores, flat mating faces, and demanding surface requirements
  • Fluid power pump components, where sealing surfaces and bore fits control how the part performs
  • Directional drilling components that combine hard materials with close-tolerance diameters

GRINDING

CNC Jig Grinding

Complex geometries, including cam contours and elliptical profiles, are finished using CNC continuous-path jig grinders. Integrated rotary tables enable 5-axis grinding with tight profile tolerances and high-quality surface finishes for demanding precision components.
